When I started thinking about applying to nursing school as an adult, I didn’t know where to start. But there was still a tinge of fear in me, as well as a reluctance to apply. Some people use family to reject studying in Nursing school. I have met some individuals who believed that they were too “Old” to attend Nursing School, or how ” they can’t cope with adult nurses”.
When I was in nursing school and ever since I finished my studies, many people have been asking me how I was able to cope as an adult nursing student. Others just stare at me, and I can feel what they are thinking.
I was already working as a Nursing assistant in a hospital ward while thinking if going to medical school was what I really wanted to do. I had gained a wide range of clinical skills, I knew that I could do more for patients, but as a nursing assistant, I was restricted to specific abilities like drug rounds and IV fluid administration, among others. Through this thought process I found motivated to challenge myself, even more, not putting age into consideration.Â
 3. Ask questions about any worries.
One of the best methods I found to begin nursing education was to ask questions about anything that concerned me. I was able to attend an opening day, which was an excellent opportunity to ask about all of my concerns, especially as I did not gain my degree in the United Kingdom. I also inquire about placements and work experience to see if the hospitals or health centres with whom they collaborate are closer to me. This was vital to know as I didn’t want to travel too far as I had a family to care for.Â

4. Family Commitments

Your academic studies will completely consume you. So, before you become a student nurse, think about how much time you’ll have to spend with your family.
In my case, my children were able to comprehend my situation. I had to have a discussion with my family and explain to them that I was going to university. I made them understand that I desired to be a nurse when I graduated. This made them understand and had to support me.

5. Financial Assistance
